We will install the runtime to all servers.

Some of the servers have full version of Access 2007 and some don't. "I have a accde FE (Access 2007) that will be used by many different users in a remote desktop environment. I explain what the runtime system is and is not here: This process THEN installs a copy of Access or the msaccess.exe (if you don't already have a copy installed). This installs parts of office (such as Ribbon, VBA etc.). Results in a rather "large" office + Access install process. You FIRST as a ONE TIME install will run the AccessRuntime.Exe and as noted this You FIRST as a ONE TIME install will run the AccessRuntime.Exe and as notedĪnd do not launch a database with AccessRuntime.exe. You cannot and do not launch a database with AccessRuntime.exe. If you were not prompted for anything, then likely some previous copy of office (and Access) was already installed on the computer. The Accessruntime.exe as noted is a big huge install of office + Access (runtime). You cannot open or launch or use an Access database with AccessRuntime.exe. accdr file with the missing MSACCESS.EXE, it did not ask me to accept it. Make no mistake here, this is a "big" office install. It installs VBA, ribbon and a copy of Access (msaccess.exe).

Right, but the above is an office install. When I opened AccessRuntime.exe directly (double-clicked it), it asked me to accept it. >Another point is the licensing agreement. You cannot install Excel 2010 two times on a computer, nor can you install Access 2010 two times (and this includes the runtime). I think the major confusing here is people assuming and thinking that the two versions are "separated" out, and they are not.

file to that computer and then simply double click on that file to launch Access. Once Access is installed (full or runtime), then you can copy any mdb/accdb etc. So you CAN NOT have full edition +_ runtime installed on a machine at the same time - no more so then trying to install two versions of Word 2010 for example. If the runtime actually did anything during an install on a computer with full edition then you world be overwrite the customer's full edition. The ONLY difference here runtime does not have design ability. So the 1000's of "dll's" and 1000's of registry changes made are the SAME in both cases.

The runtime and the full edition are near identical in terms of libraries and files installed. Since you can only install ONE copy of Word or say excel (for a given version of office). The "installed" list might show you installed runtime, but this is rather misleading This is why if you attempt to install runtime on a machine that has full edition then nothing happens. In fact the SAME directory and same locations are used. They are the SAME install to the SAME location. I did this but it's still not working. This is confusing because people think the installing of the runtime is much if any different then the full edition of Office + Access and it is NOT! Path (REG_SZ) "C:\Users\R\Desktop\OXI Integration.accdb" You'll need to create a script or install routine that manually creates the necessary registry keys.

After learning how to make the desktop file a trusted one by modifying the registry it still has the same warning and won't show the form. I saved the DB (accdb file) to the desktop first then double clicked the file and runtime opened with a warning saying the file is not in a trusted file, do you want to open anyway? I clicked open anyway but nothing happened, my form did not appear nor any other option to work with.
